If you open a custodial account for your child, at what point does he/she have access rights to the funds in the account? A child will not be able to access the funds in a custodial account on their own until they reach age 21. At that point, the account is designated in the child's name and the custodian will no longer have access.

You need to have a valid ID, proof of your mailing address, and your social security number. There is a minimum deposit of $5.00 required for a savings account and additional $25.00 for a checking account if ordering checks.
